Lubricated Plug Valve
The Lubricated Plug Valve is a quarter-turn isolation and diversion valve that uses a tapered or cylindrical plug with a bore as its closing element. It is distinguished by its use of a special lubricant injected into the valve body to reduce operating torque, enhance sealing, and extend service life.
Product Overview and Mechanism
Structure: The plug, which contains a through-hole (port), rotates 90° (quarter-turn) within the valve body’s conical or cylindrical cavity to achieve opening or closing.
- Lubrication Feature: A high-quality, specialized sealant/lubricant is injected into the space between the plug (tapered element) and the valve body’s conical seat. This lubricant forms a crucial film:
- Reduces Torque: Significantly lowers the force (torque) required to turn the plug, making operation quick and easy.
- Enhances Sealing: Fills potential leaks and voids, improving the valve’s overall sealing capability (hard seal).
- Extends Life: Protects the metal sealing surfaces from abrasion and wear.
- Operation: Characterized by simple structure, quick opening/closing, low fluid resistance, and fast angular travel. It is excellent for rapid pipeline connection or shut-off in emergencies.
- Types: Can be categorized into Conventional Lubricated Plug Valves and Pressure Balanced Plug Valves.
